Client Testimonials
“As a man aware of nutrition for the past 40+ of my 61 years, my food intake reflected biblical standards and my exercise routine of jogging approximately 4 miles per week for many years, yielded both a sense of well being and a generally healthy physical condition. My stomach developed the proverbial paunch and my energy levels had some what diminished with age. I weighed approximately 205 pounds at my heaviest in the past.
Listening to and watching David loose some 120 lbs in a short period of time intrigued me to the point of learning from him the calorie deficit counting technique. For the first time in my life, I began to look at and count calories associated with food that I consume. In October of 2019 I weighed approximately 189 lbs and put myself on a 2000 calorie regimen and was neither meticulous nor religious regarding adhering to this self imposed standard. In approximately two months I dropped 15lbs to 174 lbs due to counting calories of food that I consumed and continued jogging routine. I then started a workout routine that was intended to tone muscle in arms, chest, and core. I had not exercised with weights in a concerted fashion for any significant length of time since approximately age 19.
My body weight presently fluctuates between 177 and 173 and is currently 174.8 lbs. My most recent lowest weight was 170 lbs. This has occurred naturally within the past four months. I do not have a weight goal but I do desire to trim my stomach and “love handles” as well as develop tricep, bicep, and core strength. At this time I feel fit though my arms are sore as muscle develops.
I do not have a weight lifting goal and have no desire to be in a weight lifting competition. I am enjoying small muscle improvement and definition to my skinny (boney) arms. I started with 15 lbs dumbbells and have progressed to using 25 and 35 lbs for my exercise routine. My routine started with approximately 15 minutes per day and is now approximately one hour every other day with 20 minutes on the day in between. I should also add that I do not desire a muscle bound beach body look but I do not desire to have a physical paunchy sedentary appearance either. My mental state seems less depressed and less anxious.
To be transparent, I ate and enjoyed several pieces of chocolate candy last night. Rarely but occasionally I will eat chocolate. This was probably in leu of a normal glass of wine that my medulla and dopamine pathway have become accustomed to.”
“David visited us in Cape Town in May 2019 just after his amazing weight loss from 130kg to 73kg. He asked me if I could get him gym access for the 2 weeks he was in Cape Town. I myself was not a great fan of gym and t age 60 I certainly had absolutely no intentions of joining a gym. Because of his request I started looking around for a possible gym contract for him and I figured that maybe myself and my wife could join a gym as we could get quite an affordable rate through our medical aid. My wife was doing exercise classes at that time and it turned out that we could both join the local gym for less than her exercise class fees and at the same time we could get a deal for David to be able to go to gym during his time in Cape Town. I thought just to go with him for company and if I liked it I would carry on going. I quickly learned from Dawid how easy it was to get through a 30 – 45 min exercise routine and what really got me was the way I felt after the exercise, sauna and shower. This good feeling afer the exercise experience together with the sauna and shower became my motivation to go to gym. I am now more of a believer in gym because I learnt from David to make the experience what he would call, cheilek, a Hebrew word for making it pleasurable by using the time on the treadmill or recumbent bike to watch a perdetermined video on a topic choice for the day. You get to learn something new every day and one uses that same time to get the necessary exercise The time flies and before you know it you have built up a good sweat and you feel on top of the world. Thank you David for introducing me to the gym.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing David Katz for over 15 years. During that time I’ve marveled at his work ethic, outlook on life, and abilities to take action and maintain results. Katz has a way of simplifying the general principles underlying many aspects of life and has demonstrated the ability to personally adapt to all sorts of changing conditions while overcoming many different types of challenges. He has helped me to realize certain errors in my own thinking while coaching me in a positive direction towards better choices and more effective behaviors. Katz’s “Calorie Deficit” is much larger than it looks. CD represents a deeper approach to life and I have found it to have much broader application than initially expected. In my battle against sedentariansm, Katz has provided me with a framework to mount an offensive attack while guarding my health from over-indulgence and bad choices. Thank you Rabbi David Katz for helping me to help myself become a better human being! I’m looking forward to continual improvement with this method!”
